iPhone – sleep timer – problems
-
I have noticed a very annoying problem over the last few weeks or maybe even months. When I set my sleep timer to 20 minutes and the phone goes to sleep mode after that, the next day, when I hear podcasts, the sleep timer seems to be still turned on although the color of the icon is greyed out (I.e. function is turned off). What happens then is every 20 minutes my phone will stop playing the podcast and I have to restart the podcast manually.
I usually have to manually close the app and restart it in order to make it work properly. That is super annoying. Maybe you have valuable insights for me and know how to resolve my issue.
thx

@carlchentoutou could you let us know what version of Pocket Casts you have installed on your device? You can see this in Profile > Settings > About.
One thing you may want to check is whether you have Auto Restart Sleep Timer enabled. You can navigate to Profile > Settings > General to find the setting. If it’s enabled, could you try disabling it to see if the problem persists?

Please excuse my very delayed response but it’s because I’ve somehow missed it in my inbox.
I am running version 8.5 (8.5.0.2) with iOS 26.3.
Here is a quick update on what I’ve done. I certainly tried to isolate the problem but nothing has really helped.
I disabled the “restart” function but it still happens that I set the timer to 20 minutes at night and the next morning, when I restart the podcast, after a differing number of minutes, the volume will lower itself and replay will stop. I assume there is either some “leftover time” from the last timer for whatever reason (which causes replay to stop once that time is used up) or alternatively it is a bug.
Does that help?

Thanks for sharing that additional context with us. Can you confirm if it persists even on v8.6?
Also, are the podcasts you’re listening to downloaded, or are you streaming them?
