Issues syncing between PocketCasts app & Sonos app
-
Hello PocketCasts,
I’ve been using your app as a Plus-user and Sonos-extension for years, because it always synched the moment in a podcast where I left off between the iOS-app and the Sonos PocketCasts-service and vice versa. But since the last few weeks, this no longer works.
Could you please help in fixing this? It is an extreme ‘dissatisfyer’ so to speak.
Regards, Pieter vS

Hi Pieter @uitgelezenverhalen
We’ve noticed quite a few reports after Sonos revamped their app.
We’re looking into these issues, but for now, the best option would be to ensure you have the latest version of Sonos (S2 controller). If that is already the case, try disconnecting your Pocket Casts account from your Sonos app in the Content/Music services section and then reconnecting it.
After that is done, please monitor if the syncing issues persist.

Pocket Casts has not worked correctly for me ever since the Sonos app update despite re-authorizing, removing and readding the app, restarting my router, reconnecting my system to wifi, etc. numerous times. I very frequently receive the error “something went wrong,” it very often doesn’t show new releases on the home screen, and on the occasions when I can open new releases, it’s often slow and buggy. I’m at a loss for how to fix this. I have an ipad, an iphone, an old ipad, and an old android phone. The Sonos app should be up to date. Pocket Casts should be up to date. These problems have persisted for many months.

@matt2h thanks for sharing all of this with us. Our team are trying to find a solution, but if you can also flag it with Sonos and let them know it started since the Sonos app update, they might be able to resolve it from their end too.
In the meantime, we are recommending you try using Bluetooth or Airplay to share audio from our Pocket Casts app to Sonos.

But I don’t see the Bluetooth option in PocketCasts?
You can connect your mobile device to the Sonos system via Bluetooth and use the system as a regular Bluetooth speaker.

I believe that there are several Sonos speakers that do not have this capability. They may use bluetooth during setup but not for Playback. But Apple users can use AirPlay.
