Javascript error after app loads – macOS

    macOS version 14.7
    Pocket Casts version 2.0.7

    Very recent install, setting a brand new laptop up.

    This forum gives me a permission error when trying to add a screenshot, so I’ll copy the wording here instead for now:

    
A JavaScript error occurred in the main process
Uncaught Exception:
Error: EACCES: permission denied, open '/Applications/Pocket Casts.app/Contents/Resources/cache/4ebd620f-79ba-42df-a95d-84eee4aa1264.mp3'

    It appears regularly and I have to click “ok”, I can’t use the app until I dismiss the error and it pops up several times in a row. The path to the mp3 file is not the same each time, but the path seems to be the same.

    Let me know if there’s any more debugging/support info that would be good to provide.

    As for the JavaScript permissions error when using the app, can you let us know the following?

    • Were you logged in as an admin user when you installed the app?
    • Are you logged in to the same admin user when trying to use the app?

    I have two user accounts on the laptop, both admin accounts. I use the fast user switch menu a lot. I’ll see if the issue reoccurs if I restart the device and only sign in on one user.

    Thanks for sharing that, @maxshelley! Our developers have confirmed that the JavaScript error occurs when the application is installed with one account and then used by another account. They’ve already found a fix, which will be included in the next app update.

    For now, to avoid running into the error, please use the app with the account you used to install it. Once the fix is available, you’ll be able to freely switch between your two accounts.

    @maxshelley We’ve just shipped 2.0.8, which includes the fix. Please update and restart the app, and let us know if that works for you!
