Love this app and the search is fantastic, but often gets stuck loading forever.

    Hi, I moved over from Google Podcasts recently and this is my favourite podcast app I’ve found – the best feature being the search which, when it works, I find it works fantastically.

    However the longer I have the app I notice that certain features are becoming less responsive. I can always seem to access downloaded podcasts, the currently playing podcast, and lists, though lists do not always correctly show the icons for each podcast (it’s just a grey PocketCast logo).

    When I click through to an episode from a list, if it’s not downloaded, sometimes it hangs for a long time on trying to load the description.

    When I click through to a podcast’s main page e.g. from my own homepage or from the currently selected episode, sometimes it hangs and won’t load.

    But the biggest issue is Search (Discover). Often it simply won’t load at all. Sometimes it hangs for a long time and eventually loads. Sometimes it seems to partially load (showing grey placeholder logos and no names). If I close the app and try again later, sometimes it works fine whereas at other times it can be inaccessible for days at a time.

    I’m on Android and I just grabbed the most up to date version from Google Play in the hope it might fix this but it’s the same.

    Is there anything that I can try to fix this, without losing my downloaded episodes?

  • Hi! A couple of things might be affecting the connection. Do you use a VPN, firewall, or ad blocker app? These can sometimes interfere.

    Additionally, is the slow loading happening on WiFi, mobile data, or both?

    i have the same problem, it can take several minutes to load and the play button is not responsive while its loading, and then when the next podcast tries to start, yet again it takes forever for it to start.

    I don’t have any firewall, VPN nor AdBlock app and I’m using a wifi connection but all other apps work fine (example: YouTube, TikTok, online games etc)
