Mass removal of downloads
-
I have a problem. I subscribe to lots of podcasts (good!) but don’t get a chance to get through them (bad). As a result, I have a LOT of downloaded episodes and it’s taking up a LOT of space on my iPhone.
So, my question here is… is there a simple way to mass remove downloads without, say, marking the podcast as already listened to – i.e. I want to keep the podcasts as still unplayed, but just wipe the download. Doing it one at a time on subscriptions that have over 100 unplayed downloads is just not practical.
Or, is there a way to just wipe all downloads, allowing me to start again by just downloading the ones I want?
One thing I have done is that for those podcasts that I struggle to get around to listening, I’ve stopped auto-downloads, so once I can wipe my backlog, I should be all good for the future.

Hi @dartiss I have the same problem. When travelling recently, with poor access to broadband, I enabled auto-download for my favourite podcasts so that in snatches of time in cafes etc. on wifi they would download. But now back home I don’t need them. I’d like to remove all downloaded podcasts with one command. Let me know if you found a solution. I’m not familiar with Pocketcasts forum or WordPress blogs so I don’t know if you’ll get this. Cheers Greg.

Hi there @dartiss and @portjacksonbioinformatics! Have you tried using multiselection to remove downloads? You can multiselect episodes from most screens that list podcast episodes by long-pressing on an episode. If all the episodes you select are downloaded, the first option on the top bar will be to delete the downloads of all the selected episodes.
You can read more about multselect here: https://blog.pocketcasts.com/2020/07/30/multi-select/
Or, is there a way to just wipe all downloads, allowing me to start again by just downloading the ones I want?
If you go to the Downloads screen from the Profile tab, and enter multselect mode, then one of the options in the overflow menu will be to select all. Doing that and then tapping the delete option would delete all your downloads, so this is an option as well.
I hope that helps. Let me know if that doesn’t accomplish what you need.

That works beautifully! Thank you.
I feel that long press option is pretty hidden away (one of those “you have to know it exists” scenarios), which it wouldn’t be if the options were available from an icon menu, for example.
