Media Notification Bug

    I use this app on both Apple and Android devices, primarily using the Android device, and I encountered an issue over the last week.

    The app seems to produce 2 playback notifications now, one that’s the expected one, which is all well and good, but there’s an additional “dead” one now that appears any time during playback for an episode I had playing about a week ago and have since moved on from. I can swipe back and forth between the two notifications, but the dead notification seems to be locked in a state from that episode, with dark mode enabled, with my earbuds selected as the media output, and none of the buttons on that notification work.

    The normal one, which appears alongside it, works as expected.

    Has anyone else seen this problem?

    Adding: This is specifically on the Android device. I realize I didn’t make that clear. The Apple one has no issues so far.

    I have force stopped, disabled/enabled notifications, changed the app settings for the media notification, and uninstalled/reinstalled the app at this point, and it produces the same dead notification every time.

  • @pixiestrawberrydione36598 We haven’t had other reports like this, so it’s very interesting. Can you let us know the following?

    • The OS version on your device – you can usually find this from your phone’s Settings
    • Your Pocket Casts app version – you can see this from the Pocket Casts app’s Profile > Settings (gear icon) > About
    • Whether background refresh or battery restrictions are enabled for the app – the exact location for checking this will depend on your device

    Within the app, background refresh is enabled and works fine. Everything in the app, including playback, continues to function as normal. That dead playback notification is the only anomalous thing I’ve noticed, and I use this app every day.
