Mono audio

My feature request is to have a mono audio option in audio effects. There are times when I am only able to listen to podcasts with one earphone in and I will not be able to hear everything that is going on because it’s a stereo podcast with audio on left and right tracks. There are ways to force your phone to do this with all audio but it would be helpful if you could do this specifically in the app. Thank you.

I do not regularly listen with one ear, but I just find podcasts with heavy stereo separation for people speaking annoying to listen too, even when it is intentional. Or sometimes a podcast is mistakenly (partially) uploaded with only one stereo track. Now phone OSes have downmix to mono built in as an accessibilty feature, but switching back and forth between settigns deep into the settings menuss in not preferred, as I want to keep stereo for music apps and musical podcasts, so a Pocket Casts effect that is also able to be set in the per podcast settings would be ideal.
Tied into this, maybe a feature like effects “custom for this episode”, or in other words forget changed effects setting after the episode is finished would be nice for the usecase when a single episode is bugged. That has other use cases as well off course for the other audio effects. -
That’s very interesting. I’d never have thought about that. I constantly only ever use one single Bluetooth earbud in at anytime so I can still hear surroundings. I never thought there might be something I could miss. I agree it sounds useful, so I would +1 if this is not too difficult to implement.
