Music Assistant

I would love to integrate pocketcasts into my Music Assistant, in order to play podcasts in my house using Home Assistant.

The project is open source, and I know there are many others who would love this feature. You would be the first podcast-only provider on there, it would be awesome.If there is anything the community can do to help set this up, please point us in the right direction.

You have my vote on this, I’d love to see an integration in Home Assistant! As above, if there is anything we can help with, feedback, testing etc we’re here.

As a Home Assistant user, this would provide us with the ability to play podcasts directly from music assistant rather than from an external device. If you are unaware of Homa Assistant and it’s benefits I’d be more than happy to spend time showing you around on a web call, it’s becoming the standard for home automation and accepts lots of other music providers via API access. -

The integration with Music Assistant and Home Assistant is really tight, so it means you can use home triggers to start podcasts. For example coming home, it could start playing your favourite podcast. Or perhaps when the motion sensor in the kitchen registers you as cooking. Or just having the podcast follow you from room to room etc etc.
In addition, I would say that Music Assistant is excellent and casting to a wide variety of different speakers you might have throughout the house, whether that is Sonos, Google Cast, Alexa etc.
Really great to hear it’s been recorded @mikerockwell, and again, if there’s anything we can do to help please let us know. It’s a big and very keen community.

This would be lovely. I use Music Assistant to start the radio once my alarm went off, or if I start cooking as mentioned above.. Would love to bring in Pocketcast instead.

So happy to find this request, been thinking about this for a long time. I use Pocket Casts for podcasts and have found the other options in music assistant to be poor alternatives. Would love a native integration.

I arrived here after searching to see if my number one app and best podcast player was available as a Music Assistant player plugin. This gets my vote. Hopefully the team can deliver this as it would be really useful.
