New Android Widgets (feedback)

Hey, really pleased to see the updated widget offerings on Android come through in the beta. Here’s my feedback:
– The medium player uses space poorly. The 3 buttons should be loads bigger. The way it’s all scrunched to the left side is strange. When stretched all the way across the screen (5×1), the podcast title and the buttons should be split vertically, not horizontally across. As a suggestion, you could split the space into thirds, with the artwork in the first, the title in the 2nd and the buttons in the final third – making them closer to your right thumb/finger.
– Also, on the medium player, when you reduce the widget to 3×1, you lose half of the skip forward button.
– Also, the widget’s don’t seem to have the same dynamic colour matching that other widgets do. You can see from the attached image that it’s not bringing out the same colour tones as the others.
– I’d like it if tapping the empty space on any of the widgets opened the app. At the moment, it’s dead space that does nothing when I tap it.
– The small one seems fine as it is.
– The large one should be more scalable. At the moment it can only be 5×3. It should be able to be scaled down to 5×2 (which is what most other widgets do). Otherwise, the crucial 3 buttons (skip back, play, skip forward) are also a little small in the layout of the widget.

Except for the suggestion to split the three components into thirds, I agree with everything here. Love the app, but really disappointed with this widget update. I created an account just to share how much I dislike it.
My suggestion is to use the episode artwork faded and/or blurred as the background of the whole widget and then to use the whole width of it where the skip and play/pause buttons are shown above or below the podcast and episode titles, which also span the whole width. Then, the widget should scale properly anywhere from 2×1 to 5×1. At 5×1 or wider, it might make more sense to have the buttons on the right and the titles on the left.

yea i mean why the hell did they get rid of it though? it was there for one update and then gone the next.

@jak5080 we trialled it on our beta and, due to the feedback, decided to remove it until all of the feedback has been addressed.
We hope to add it back at a later stage
