Newly published podcasts
-
I generally avoid using auto download for podcasts, preferring to select which episodes I want to listen to.
There used to be an option in Pocket Casts that would allow me to see what episodes have recently been published which I could then choose to download. This seems to have disappeared and I’m not sure if this is down to me deleting a feed or whether there’s been a change in the app.
Is anyone able to give me advice? Your help is gratefully received

There are a couple of options that could be used for this that come to mind:
- From the Podcasts tab, you can tap on the three dot menu in the upper-right, and change the Sort By option to Episode Release Date. That will keep podcasts with newly released episodes at the top of the Podcasts tab. In addition, from that three dot menu, you could also choose to badge each Podcast with the number of unfinished episodes or a badge for the latest episode.
- From the Playlists/Filters tab, you could setup a Smart Playlist/Episode Filter to show newly released podcasts. For example, you could configure a Filter/Smart Playlist to show all podcast episodes that were released in the past two weeks, which you could then use to download individual episode, archive ones you don’t want to listen to, and/or add individual ones to your Up Next queue.
Does it sound like one of those features is what you were using previously? Or do you remember using something else?

Came here to say the same thing. I preferred the list where there were episode names so I can judge from that if I want to listen. Now I need to go into each individual podcast show to find out? What a faff.
Always annoying when companies fiddle around to keep themselves busy and make their own apps worse. At least give people options. I don’t use playlists because podcasts are transactional but now I’ve got an icon that I’ll never use that’s replaced one I used every time I used the app.
Guess it’s time to find another podcast app.
