Not receiving notifications on Android app until opening it (Xiaomi device)

    I never receive notifications from the app on my Xiaomi phone until I open it. Once I go to the app, all the notifications come at once but after I leave I don’t get notifications anymore. I’ve tried everything:

    • Turning off battery optimization
    • Re-installing the app
    • Turning off and on notifications for podcasts in the app

    We have noticed that newer Android versions disable app notifications, so it would be a good idea to go to your Android Settings > Apps > Pocket Casts > Notifications and ensure it is enabled. So, in addition to enabling notifications within Pocket Casts, you’d also need to ensure Android has given Pocket Casts permission to send notifications.

    After that is done, please let us know if it helped

    This was already turned on. I also made sure that I’d turned on notifications for the app in every possible category. It still doesn’t fix the issue I’m facing. I do receive the notifications but only after I’ve opened the app. The problem is the notifications never come when I’ve left the app.

    • The OS version on your device – you can usually find this from your phone’s Settings
    • Your Pocket Casts app version – you can see this from the Pocket Casts app’s Profile > Settings (gear icon) > About

    Sorry for responding three months later but the issue still persisted after that update and even now.

    Based on what we can see, this seems to be specific to Xiaomi devices, since we have not gotten reports of such an issue affecting other devices.

    It might be worth reporting this to Xiaomi support if the recommendations don’t help!
