Not worth $40

I’ve been using the app for several years. I paid the lifetime a few years back only to have them do away with it and usher in the subscription plan. I never did that because I didn’t feel that was right. Now they bump it to $40. And they tell me via a reply to my Play Store review that because I never signed up for their iriginal subsctiption tgat I’m considered a new user.
Sorry, but it’s NOT worth $40/year. $10, MAYBE. I will do neither option. I still feel that your older, original users SHOULD HAVE been grandfathered in. So it looks like I will be looking for other podcast options. Even though this MAY have been one of the best podcast apps out there, I will no longer support the app. You treated us wrong, and I will not stand for that.

In 2019 we switched from having each app be its own purchase to offering the iOS and Android apps for free. Access to the web and desktop apps was then limited to those with a Pocket Casts Plus subscription.
Since the web app used to be a one-time purchase made from our site and we were moving it to a subscription, we gave a lifetime subscription to those who had previously purchased the web app.
Since the features that were available in the mobile app at that time were made free and remain available with a free account, the lifetime subscription status was not offered to those that purchased the iOS or Android app.
Thank you for your feedback on this, though. I’ve forwarded this along to our developers to take into consideration as we refine our offerings going forward.
