notification sound on first play

I can’t figure out why Pocketcast plays a notification chime or sound when I press play. none of my other apps on android (pixel 9) do that

Hi, @cutterstark! I haven’t been able to replicate this behavior you describe so far. Can you please share the following information to help us investigate?
- The OS version on your device – you can usually find this from your phone’s Settings
- Your Pocket Casts app version – you can see this from the Pocket Casts app’s Profile > Settings (gear icon) > About
- Where exactly you’re pressing play – is it from the app’s mini player or its full-screen player? Or are you playing from the Android notification perhaps?

The sound didn’t come through on the screen capture, but when I first press play on the Hard Fork Podcast, you can see it then pauses for a moment, that is when the sound plays, then after a second, it goes back to playing.Pocket Casts 7.101 (9386)

Thanks for that, @cutterstark! I’ve shared these details with our developers in case they have an idea about what’s going on or if they can replicate it on their own devices. We will let you know if we need any more information from you to help us figure this out.

@cutterstark Our developers have looked at your issue, and they have some questions for you. Can you please check if you have any other Pocket Casts notifications appearing? They are wondering if there is another notification, like maybe “Playback Errors,” which is causing a sound.
You can check the Android Settings app > Apps > Pocket Casts > Notifications, and look through the notification categories where sound might be enabled, similar to what’s shown below:

@cutterstark thank you for confirming! I’ll let the development team know that you have notifications disabled. We’ll be sure to follow-up here once we have more information to share.
