Option to disable the play action on BT connection

Each time my phone connect to a BT device, my podcasts are played.
Is it possible to have an option to avoid auto-play when a BT device is connected?

This feature is initiated by your device as part of the connection process with Bluetooth. There isn’t a way to disable it in our app. I’ll let the team know you’d like to see one built. I can see why it would be nice to have myself

+1 for me, too. My car does this, but when I’m driving someone somewhere(such as kids to school), I don’t want it to play. My wife also doesn’t like listening because I go faster.

I can confirm that a feature request has been logged for this. In the meantime, it might be worth checking if your device has a way to disable this feature, too.

It’s now 2026 and there is still not an option to control auto connect with my Pocket Casts app. Have you had any more discussion about building one into the app? I LOVE the app, it works perfectly for me, but really hate that it “automatically” starts playing in my car, even if the app is closed. I realize it is probably a device issue, but there are several apps that have the auto connect shutoff available.

Hi there, @raspberrycorala9102b09a2! You’re right that this is more of a device issue than app issue. Please check your devices for settings like “Automatically resume media” or “Auto‑play on connect” or “auto‑resume”.

Definitely not a device issue. Not all media apps “auto-connect” in the vehicle, so it has to be with the app. No ‘auto-connect” feature available in your app. Please find a solution.

@raspberrycorala9102b09a2 thank you for the follow up on this! I’ve added your name to the existing feature request to have something like this implemented. I can’t offer an estimated timeframe, but hopefully it will be considered soon.
