OS Version Support

Dear PocketCast Team (and PocketCasters),
What is your policy regarding OS version support please? I ask because there is much speculation by users on what may happen with apps like PocketCasts now that Android 12 will no longer receive security updates. The Mudita Kompact is a newly launched phone which comes with Android 12. They have made it possible to sideload PocketCasts, which any right-minded person would want to do, obviously. But the question is, what are the chances that the PocketCasts dev team will declare Android 13/14 a minimum requirement for future versions of Pocket Casts. Would you please comment/elaborate on this.

We currently support Android 7 and later. I’m sure at some point in the future we will raise the minimum supported version, but that isn’t on our roadmap at the moment and it would likely be years before the minimum version was raised above Android 12.
