Phone call bug

On my iPhone 11 with iOS 17, if the app is still open in the background after listening to a podcast, and I miss a call (while the phone is not in use and screen is black), the app will start playing the podcast again after missing the call. Happened twice in 30 minutes. Each time I stopped the player in app /‘d yet it happened again after another missed call. The solution seems to be closing the app with the swipe up technique. Weird.

Hi @mpcdoh! We’d love to help troubleshoot this. Can you check the version of Pocket Casts in Profile > tap the Settings icon at the top right > About? You can also check the App Store to see if you are on the latest version and update if not.

the app will start playing the podcast again after missing the call.

To confirm, the podcast is not currently playing when the call comes in but then starts playing after the missed call? Is the phone connected to a Bluetooth accessory at the time?

We look forward to your reply!

I can confirm I’m also seeing this bug. App has previously been playing music and is still active in the quick controls shade, but not currently be playing. Any interaction with the phone app ending a call starts the playback again. This includes ending taken phone calls, sending to voicemails, or Live voicemail.

Force closing the app from running in the card view stops this from happening. Seems to be in the suspended time from last playback and iOS closing the app completely.

    Latest version installed 7.52.1 (7.52.1.0)
