Play button not working properly, buffering, playing after paused
-
I’ve used Pocket Casts for a very long time. All of a sudden a couple of weeks ago it started acting up.
When I try to play a podcast (doesn’t matter if it’s downloaded or not), the play button acts like it doesn’t work. But once I press it, I can’t do anything else with that episode. It won’t play but I can’t stop the process either. It’s like nothing works and then all of a sudden, 3-5 minutes later, the podcast starts playing. If I hit pause it will pause but then it starts playing again. Sometimes it will show the wrong podcast if I had previously chosen another one I decided not to listen to, even though I’ve gone to the end of the “wrong” podcast to clear it out (that might not be the best way to get rid of it).
If I try to go to the details of any podcast, it just buffers and never shows me the details.
When searching for a new podcast, I just get buffering instead of it populating with a list of podcasts with similar words right away (like it used to) and I’ve even tried it with popular podcasts. Once it finally pulls up a list of various podcasts with similar titles horizontally at the top, it still shows buffering for another 2 – 3 minutes until it finally loads all the rest vertically that it found. And sometimes it will just dump me into a list of the episodes. If I click on one to try to see that podcast (not a particular episode, but the podcast information) it says please wait, loading.
What is happening? I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice and I’ve restarted my phone numerous times. I’ve only re-added 3 podcasts. I’m not having trouble with anything else on my phone.
I have version 7.70 and I’m using a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G phone. -
We just released an update to the Android app that has several bug fixes and performance improvements. Please update Pocket Casts to version 7.71 on the Play Store as soon as you see it available.
Let us know if the issue persists after updating the app.
