Playback 2024 is here!

I always love “year in review” features and Pocket Casts is one of my favorites! Thanks for adding it to the app!
Is there any way to include my uploaded files in next year’s stats? It would be awesome if I could tag the MP3s that I upload with specific metadata so that it gets included in Playback 2025! Please let me know or add a feature request if possible.

Thanks for the really awesome feedback, @aesterling

Great idea! I have relayed it to my team for consideration for next year :)

Thanks, @staff-joey8 I asked about it now so that I can begin tagging my uploaded MP3’s with the right metadata so they can potentially be included for next year’s Playback 2025. :) I figured I would need to start now so that the metrics are captured throughout the year.

I just looked at my playback year in review and I’m so confused. My #1 is a show I only listened to a few times. It says I listened to over 300 episodes of it, and so looked to find that only 58 episodes of that pod have been made in total. In my actual playback history, it shows I’ve listened to 9 or 10 episodes, which sounds accurate, so I don’t understand how it came up with 300+ episodes.
Meanwhile, the other shows in my top 5 are shows I listen to regularly, and they have one or two new episodes a week. This is definitely an error. -
@aesterling awesome stuff! No guarantees, though, but it is something on our ideas board :))
-
@crinfanger that is really odd. I have sent you an email to request some additional data to help us investigate this.
This is the first report we have gotten for such an issue. Please reply back to us in the email :)

@vendettavonbang I see it on the mobile app by going to the Profile tab. It shows up as a banner under my profile picture.

Hello! I’m not sure where to find my year in review. I’ve checked on the profile tab on my mobile app, but there’s nothing there. Thanks!

Playback 2024 is definitely broken.
There is one podcast that releases 4 episodes per day 4-5 days a week (The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz) and I listed to all of them and it doesn’t list it in my Top 5 at all.
It has other podcasts that I listened to maybe one time a week and they are in the Top 5.
Also, I’ve been using Pocketcasts since 2019 and it looks like my Stats have been reset. It only shows 17 hours of listening when it is definitely 1000+.
-
@rubendn41 It did something similar for me. It said my top show was one I listened to handful of episodes of in the spring. It said I listened to over 300 episodes, but that show only has 58 episodes total. Pocketcasts emailed me asking for screenshots of my playback, as well as screenshots of my listening history of that show, and they were (allegedly) going to send that to the developers.

My playback seems incorrect as well. I remember last year The time when the playback was waiting shorter podcasts more heavily, and it seems to be doing that again. It’s showing only my dailies, some of which I know, even if Pop five times a week, don’t match the length of some of the weekly shows that I get.
-
@rubendn41 @stonersh something to note is that the Playback 2024 is linked to your Listening History, so if at any time, you cleared your listening history under ‘Profile > Listening History’, it could cause the data to seem incorrect.
Can you confirm if the listening history in your profile tab is listing the episodes you mention aren’t showing in the playback 2024 review?

@staff-joey8 Looking at my listening history, it does show all the podcasts but for some reason, that one podcast that I listened to everyday is only showing a few episodes when I listened to a few hundred over this year.
Is there a reason why a listened to episode would not show up in the listening history? Could there be too many of one podcast to show in the listening history?
This happened on last year’s playback also. -
I have literally never cleared my listening history. My hour long shows are showing up there.
What I want to know is the rear in review weighting shorter shows like last year. If so, why? And if not, then I guess my family’s did edge out the weeklies.
