playback choppy when in the background

Since the 7.79 Android update, playback has becomes unstable and choppy when the app is in the background or the screen is off. This happens even when plugged in.
Playback Speed between 1.4 and 1.7, mild silence skip and volume boost is enabled
Disabling playback settings decreases the choppiness. it could just be less noticable
noticed it is worse when connected to Bluetooth devices like the car audio
