Playback resumes after phone restart
-
When my phone restarts, whether for a system update or because I turned it off for a while, it immediately resumes playback of whatever podcast I had last been listening to. These are podcasts I had paused hours or even days earlier and the pocket casts app was closed before the phone powered off. Doesn’t even wait for me to unlock the phone, just as soon as the power is back on it begins playing whatever I was last listening to.
If I can’t get this fixed I’m going to have to uninstall the app as this behavior is completely unacceptable. -
Hi there, @pearcer15
We’ve not heard of such an issue occurring before. Could you try listening to media on a different audio app like Apple Music or Spotify, pause the playback and then restart your device to see if it behaves the same or not?
The reason I ask, the behaviour sounds like it is coming from an external OS setting or some sort of automation app, since Pocket Casts should not be doing this.
If it only happens with Pocket Casts, let me know:
- Your Pocket Casts version
- The OS on your device
- Your phone model
- Since when you noticed this happen

I played in YouTube music, paused it, restarted my phone, and pocket casts began to play immediately.
Pocket Casts version 7.88 (9336)
Android 15
Pixel 7a
This has been happening for about a month.

Thanks for confirming this with us, @pearcer15
I’ve sent through an email so we can take a closer look at the logs. Please keep an eye out for it. Let’s continue our discussion there.

Similar problem, except playback resumes whenever Bluetooth connects to my car’s audio system, even if app is closed. App version is up to date.

@gcszggkqsm it sounds like that could be unrelated to the initial post in this thread. Could you reach out to us with app logs the next time this issue occurs for you? You can contact us with app logs by reaching out through the app — Profile > Help & Feedback > Contact Support > Get Support.
