Huge pain in the butt. I like to vary what I’m listening to and getting stuck in the NYT is annoying. Switching back and forth is also annoying. I’ve been a long time paid subscriber to the NYT, and a long time user of pocket casts. AND I don’t like Spotify, they kept feeding me generic versions of music I like, and I had to spend too much time curating my lists.
If nothing changes it’s probably the NYT audio that I’ll skip. Did I mention I for the NYT? -

Just to help set expectations, however, we’re pretty limited here. The New York Times has only made New York Times Audio available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. If you haven’t already, please let the New York Times know you also want their content to be available on other platforms like Pocket Casts.

To clarify the situation here, all New York Times podcast episodes are still available to listen to on Pocket Casts without a subscription. If you come across a podcast that isn’t available, please let us know so we can look into it. Thanks.

@staff-donnie Thank you so much for looking into this. One example – on the Serial feed in Pocket Casts only the first two episodes of each series are showing. As a specific example, missing “The Good Whale – Ep. 3” (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-good-whale-ep-3/id917918570?i=1000682395879)
Same issue on The Good Whale feed – missing “Episode 3: Homecoming” (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-3-homecoming/id1777471538?i=1000676533291)
We should probably be bugging NYT to support Pocket Casts for their subscription product, but holding out hope there is some solution here!

I personally think it’s NYT’s fault here. If every media provider were to switch this way, the concept of open nature of podcasts would go down the drain. I have personally a one year subscription to NYT [can’t renew since they don’t have regional pricing in my country after trial of 1 year] and used to listen to their podcast [Daily, was it?]sometimes.
But if they are taking the paywalled route, there is enough stuff in the world to listen to for me. Sorry for the slight tangent.
