Pocket Cast never downloads any podcast; why?

    I’ve got the latest version of Pocket Cast on my Samsung Galaxy S23+. Every podcast I subscribe to never downloads. They all fail. Always. 

    I’ve got the battery setting for Pocket Cast set to Unrestricted. 

    Why doesn’t it ever download any podcasts?

    1. Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your Samsung Galaxy S23+ has a stable internet connection, preferably Wi-Fi, to download podcasts. Poor connectivity may hinder the download process.
    2. Storage Space: Confirm that your device has enough storage space available. If your storage is full, podcasts may not be able to be downloaded. Clear some space by removing unnecessary files or apps.
    3. App Permissions: Double-check if Pocket Casts has the necessary permissions to access storage. Go to your device settings, find Pocket Casts, and make sure it has permission to access storage for downloading content.
    4. Podcast Settings: Inside the Pocket Casts app, review the podcast download settings. Ensure that download settings are configured correctly, including the download location on your device.
    5. Update Podcast Subscriptions: Check if your podcast subscriptions are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated subscriptions or broken links can lead to download failures. Refresh your podcast subscriptions within the app.
    6. App Cache: Clear the cache of the Pocket Casts app. Cached data might be causing issues with downloads. You can find this option in the app settings or in your device’s app management settings.
    7. Reinstall Pocket Casts. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Pocket Casts app. This can resolve any potential glitches or bugs that may be affecting the download process.

  • In addition. to @seoguru1996’s already fantastic suggestions (thank you, by the way!), please check the following:

    1. Do you perhaps have a firewall, VPN, or ad-blocker active on your device that could interrupt your network connection?
    2. Please also check your primary WiFi connection. In particular, please see if it has any sort of ad-blocking or filtering installed on it. One example would be this: https://pi-hole.net/

    In addition, you can also try connecting to a different network or even to mobile data. Then, please see if you are able to download normally on those connections.
