Pocket Casts Plus subscriber not able to play episodes of one podcast

I’m posting here because I couldn’t find a way to “email” (ie. webform) Pocket Casts using my Proton Mail account.

A couple of weeks ago, the episodes of Skeptoid Premium that I had downloaded into my podcast app, while appearing to have the correct duration and otherwise looking normal, wouldn’t actually start playing. I’ve had that with podcasts a couple of times before, where something had been corrupted during the download process, so I deleted and downloaded the same episodes again. Again, everything looked normal, but they wouldn’t actually start to play.

I have contacted Skeptoid about this, and they replied:

“All I can tell you is there are no problems on our end so this is probably a question for your podcast app’s tech support. One thing that seems to help with a lot of them is to unsubscribe and resubscribe. We have a bit of info on our help page at Skeptoid.com/subscribe.”

    and

“I produce the Skeptoid podcast and Brian asked me to follow up with you. What podcast app are you using? And what device and operating system?”

    to which I replied

“Pocket Casts 7.48, on Android 13, on a Samsung SM-G980F.

All other podcasts are functioning normally.”

What do I need to do?

  • Hello there,

Thanks for contacting us. Would you mind sending us a link to one of the episodes that you’re having trouble playing? We want to make sure we’re testing this using the correct podcast and episode to see if we can reproduce what you’re seeing on your end.

This is the first episode that I noticed wasn’t playing. I played the episode before it successfully. I have not been able to play any episodes of this podcast series from this episode onwards.
