Pocket Casts takes over Bluetooth control from other apps

Is there any way to stop Pocket Casts from stealing Bluetooth control from other apps and keeping it? As soon as I open Pocket Casts on my phone, it won’t let other apps pause/play music using bluetooth controls anymore. Pocket Casts keeps control of those functions – even after it has been closed.

For example: If I restart my phone and open “App A” first – without opening Pocket Casts at all – then I can listen to music in “App A” and control the play/pause function with my Bluetooth headset.

However, Pocket Casts monopolizes bluetooth permanently once it has been opened, even if it is closed back down and ‘force-stopped’ in Android. Once that happens, I can no longer play/pause music in “App A” with bluetooth until I restart my phone again. Attempts to pause in “App A” will instead open Pocket Casts and start playing a podcast.

    Any solutions?

  • Could you let us know what version of Pocket Casts you have installed and what operating system version you’re running?

Also, it may be useful to know what bluetooth headphones you’ve used where you’ve experienced this issue.
