Pocketcast crashes the whole Android operating system when listening to a manually added file. Everytime when I try to start it crashes again and again.

Thanks Lollapalooza for identifying this issue. I’m having the same problem.
I am currently running version 7.78(9292) of the app on a Pixel 6 Pro with Android 15.
After installing Android’s December security update Pocketcasts began crashing the phone whenever trying to play files. There was no issue before the update. Files can still be added and deleted from the profile screen on the app as normal but the entire phone system goes into a restart/shutdown loop immediately after pressing the play button.
The app is still playing podcast episodes fine and no other bugs have been found other than the file playback.

Experiencing the same issue. Updated to Pixel December 2024 update. Playing added files will crash the system repeatedly until the phone reboots.
No issue prior to Dec 2024 Pixel update.

We’ve confirmed this to be a bug, and the fix will be released with 7.82.2 and 7.79-rc-3.
