Pocketcasts can’t possibly be using that much storage (iOS, deleting, etc.)
-
iOS informs me that PC is using 5.6 GB of storage. That’s not remotely possible. I know iOS has a problem of accumulating ‘system data’, so perhaps that is related. But PC is also involved because many posts here describe the lack of a delete function.
Is there any way to delete my PC cache, or even see what’s in there? I suppose I could delete the app and reinstall, but that seems likely to create as many problems as it solves.

Hi! I can confirm that this is an iOS bug that we’ve reported to Apple but they haven’t fixed it as of yet.
iOS keeps a cache of some downloaded files that we have no control over – the good news is that iOS will automatically reclaim that space when it needs it.
The only workaround is to uninstall Pocket Casts, and then reinstall it, but this isn’t an ideal option since you will lose all of your downloads and custom settings.
Hope this helps!

I came here to ask about this same issue. iOS says I’m using 11.61 GB but the app says I’m using 1.37 GB
So weird.

@hotterthanhal iOS maintains a cache of files, which can sometimes contribute to the difference in reported storage usage.
While we can’t directly control iOS’s caching behavior, you can try to uninstall Pocket Casts, and then reinstall it. Please be aware that this isn’t an ideal option since you will lose all your downloads and custom settings.
We hope this information helps!

In July 2025, this file app storage size appears to still be the case. While deleting then reinstalling isn’t ideal (as @staff-frank mentioned), can PocketCasts save its settings in a separate file, delete, then restore those settings?

Hi there, @cyberdogg3000! iOS stores additional cache that is not visible to Pocket Casts so we can’t control that setting for the device.
