Podcast and episode title displaying
-
I have two parts to address. The first is the player view. If the episode has chapters, all I can see is the chapter name and number. I would at least like to see the episode title.
Second, in the lock screen/widget media player on iOS/iPadOs, it only displays the title and artist, not the album, so I would like it if the podcast name was listed under artist.
(I would add photos, but I got an error saying, “Sorry, you are not allowed to add new posts as this user” when I tried.)

Apologies for this. Can you please upload your screenshots to third-party file/image sharing services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or imgbb.com?
That would be helpful to understand what you’re seeing.
If the podcasts are public, can you also please share the Pocket Casts link? Here’s how to get it: https://support.pocketcasts.com/knowledge-base/sharing-podcasts-and-episodes/
Thank you!

Here are screenshots of only the chapter title and number being displayed in the player and how iPadOS/iOS only display the title and artist in the lock screen and control center, using the Podnews Weekly Review (https://pca.st/podcast/ba3bed30-13ff-0139-41de-0acc26574db2) as an example.

I’d like to second this request!
Most podcast players standardize on displaying the Episode Title and Podcast Title on the iOS Lock Screen Media Widget/CarPlay/Control Centre.
Based on Apple’s specs for pulling this metadata from RSS tags, that is:
Episode Title from <item><title>Podcast Title from <channel><title>while Pocket Casts seems to display Author Name from <channel><itunes:author> instead of Podcast Title.
This means instead of seeing the name of the podcast, it shows a truncated list of the hosts of the show, or the name of the publisher/network, or something else entirely. It makes for a less cohesive experience overall when listening to a podcast.
I hope you’ll consider making this change!

Thanks for your feedback, @zestful720d3ec28a
It has been noted and added to our ideas board :)

Hi, I’d like to also add my request for this to be fixed. It is not so much an idea as a bug.
The screenshot linked here shows how an episode of The Howie Games appears inside the Pocket Casts app: https://ibb.co/tMgVh8K2
The screenshot linked here shows how the same episode appears on an iOS lock screen, showing the publisher (LiSTNR) instead of the podcast name: https://ibb.co/YBQkxRnP
Considering LiSTNR manages 63 of the top 200 Australian podcasts, you can imagine how confusing it gets to see ‘LiSTNR’ there all the time instead of the podcast name. This is especially frustrating when using in-car entertainment and you don’t see any artwork. If I have a list of episodes queued up, it is impossible to know which podcast I am actually listening to – I can only see the publisher’s name, and the date on which it was published.
This was not an issue when I had Pocket Casts on my Android phone just a few months ago, so the issue seems specific to iOS.
I’m hoping this can be rectified soon. Thanks.

Thanks for that additional information, @mattgibbs95! I’ve asked our developers to check, and we’ll let you all know as soon as we hear back.
