Possible to keep the oldest 2 unlistened episodes of a podcast autodownloaded?

I’m coming from Podcast Addict because I really like Pocket Casts’ interface and ability to have separate filters to organize and play podcasts.

But that said, I can’t seem to find a way to automatically queue up and download podcasts in any way other than by new episodes as they come out. My current Podcast Addict configuration makes it so that for relevant podcasts, I always have the current and maybe next 1 or 2 oldest episodes queued up and downloaded (so I can listen on my commutes without eating up mobile data). When I complete one, the next one after the current enqueued set is then downloaded and added to the playlist.

I could be wrong, but I don’t thiiink this is such a fringe use-case… I can’t think of another way to handle listening to a serialized fiction podcast with autodownloaded episodes for a daily commute. Yet I can’t seem to find a way to get this behavior in Pocket Casts.

Is it not possible, or am I just missing something? (hopefully – and usually – the latter!)

Same issue here. I am trying to set Pocket Cast to put on top of my queue the very latest news podcast, which is released daily every 30 minutes. Right now, I get in my queue all 48 daily podcasts. This was easy to set in Overcast.

  • As a former avid Overcast user I have to agree – this would be a great feature!

I’ve added a request at https://github.com/Automattic/pocket-casts-ios/issues/1049 – I can’t make any guarantees about when it might be implemented, but the engineering folks are now aware of it.
