Put the AirPods in the case and playback continues.

When I put the Airpods Pro 2 or other bluetooth headphones into the case without pressing pause first, the podcast continues to play on the iPhone from time to time, just after the pause. It took me a long time to find out that this only happens with PocketCast. I have already written an email to PocketCast but since I’m not a Plus user try it again here.

Hi Steffen 👋
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
In order for us to investigate this further, can you please let us know the following:
- Does it always happen or just sometimes?
- Does it play through the AirPods or through the phone?
- After you pause it again, does it resume?
- When did you originally notice the issue started happening?
- What version of Pocket Casts are you using? (You can check this via Profile > Settings > About)

Thanks for the feedback.
I mean earlier this problem occurred only from time to time. But now it always occurs. After I put the arpods in the case the playback on the phone continues After I stop the playback on the phone it then does not continue. If I press pause before taking out the ears of the airpods does not happen.only if the arpods automatically stop when taking out. i use the latest version (7.46.0.4)The problem has been occurring on and off for a long time. But for some time always (not just since iOS 17).
What’s new is that now between putting away the Airpods and continuing to play also sometimes 1 to 2 minutes pass.
excuse my bad english.
Thank you steffen -
Thanks for sharing that with us, Steffen ( @gpz8xfctx8 )
Just wondering, when you take out your AirPods, put them in your case and the playback continues, is your device still connected via Bluetooth to the AirPods? Can you check on that?
It is possible that the AirPods are actually not charging in the case and are still connected to your device. We have noticed instances of that happening, but that issue is not related to the app but rather due to the AirPods not being recognized in the case.
Please let us know what you find!

Hello,
no the Airpods are then no longer connected to the Iphone. It also fits that afterwards the playback on the Iphone continues. It seems to have something to do with the automatic stop when removing.
I was also very surprised when I noticed that this only happens with PocketCast and not with other audio apps. I had assumed until recently that it was iOS related. But with Spotify, Apple Music and the MP3 audio book player it doesn’t happen.

just now the version 747.04 came out. But the unwanted play is still there. It can be reproduced every time.

I had this exact same problem with Castro, so it might be an iOS bug. I haven’t noticed is with Pocket Casts, but then again I always pause the podcast before removing the AirPods now, because of that behavior when using Castro. It was particularly annoying since my iPhone volume is always off, so I wouldn’t hear that the podcast kept playing. Rather I would notice that the episode was marked as played when I got back to listen the next time. Very annoying.

Thank you for your answer. When did you have this problem? meanwhile are probably already some iOS versions out. And if it were an iOS problem, it should also occur with the other players (spotify, Apple Music, etc.).
-
I agree, it should occur on all apps if it is an iOS bug but maybe Castro and Pocket Casts share some kind of API or something, that’s not commonly used by all other apps. I don’t know.
I had this problem with Castro just a few weeks ago, before I migrated to Pocket Casts.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we worked through this issue with the iOS app. We’ve launched a fix to address these issues. Please watch for the 7.49 update in the App Store and install it as soon as you see it become available.
