RANDOM position – feature request

I use ‘Up Next’ playlist. And all I do in my daily morning walk is a single tap to play the ‘Up Next’ playlist.
When setting up the ‘Add to Up Next’, one of the options is to select the ‘Position’ in the queue. And currently, the choices for ‘Position’ are “Bottom” or “Top”.
The problem is that, most podcasts release their episodes at specific times of the day, and the order of episodes in my Up Next queue is the same everyday, based on the release time. Since often I do not have time to listen to all the episodes, I consistently miss podcasts that are at the bottom of the queue.
My request is to have a 3rd new option ‘Random‘, for the ‘Position’ field, when setting up ‘Up Next’.
Or, are there some other workarounds?

Hi there! Thanks for your feedback on the auto-add to Up Next feature – we will take this into consideration. A “random” option could be really fun!
Would it perhaps work well for you if you used the “bottom” option so that the older episodes are always being pushed up higher in the queue?

In my case, I listen to news podcasts daily, and I don’t finish all the episodes queued up in the Up Next playlist. So, adding to the ‘Bottom’ will not help me.
As I thought through use cases you may consider adding:
- Previously I suggested adding ‘Random’ for the ‘Position’. This is similar to the ‘shuffle‘ others have requested, but if the Up Next was built with Random, I don’t even have to click shuffle every time I play pocket cast.
- I think another feature could be allowing users to rank order podcasts based on their preference. This way the line up in the ‘Up Next’ is decided by the user preference, rather being at the mercy of when the episodes were released.
