Removing episodes from Up Next does not remove download
-
It seems like if Up Next is set to auto-download, episodes removed from Up Next will still remain downloaded. That’s not what I want to happen: if I remove the episode from the queue manually and it isn’t in any other filter that should be downloaded, I’d want it to remove the download for me.
But after I realized this was happening, if there was an episode I wanted to remove from Up Next then I started manually removing the download. I thought this worked, but then I realized that the ‘download status’ doesn’t seem to sync to other devices, so this was still accumulating downloads on all my other devices.
It looks like the only way to accomplish what I want (remove an episode from Up Next and remove its download from all my devices) is to archive it, as that seems to be the only metadata related to removing the download that will sync… is that correct? If so, I’d really request as a feature that episodes that were auto-downloaded due to being on a filter become undownloaded if removed from that filter! I don’t want to have to archive an episode just to remove it as a download. I’d make a request that download status be synced across devices.

Hi, @dannyl9979! Download statuses don’t sync across devices since the download itself is stored locally on each device.

That’s correct. Archiving an episode is what deletes its associated download.
What I can suggest you try instead is to set Auto Archive settings under Profile > Settings (gear icon) > Auto Archive. You can select “After playing” for “Archive played episodes.” Archiving the episodes will accomplish two things:
- It will remove the episode’s downloaded file
- It will remove the episode from your filters (since filters only work with unarchived episodes)
Can you see if that works for you?
