Save an organized grouping of podcast episodes

Apologies that I don’t know whether this is a current capability that I can’t figure out or a feature request. I want to curate a set of podcast episodes. This could be from one publisher or multiple. I want to then save that as a group. I then want to be able to recall these groups of podcasts e.g. I might have my favourite podcast episodes group. I want to be able to recall that and start from the beginning at any point in time.

Is this possible? Sorry that I can’t find an easy way of doing it.

  • Pocket Casts doesn’t currently support a named playlist or saved grouping of episodes spanning multiple podcasts. That said, the mobile apps offer a powerful alternative: custom filters.

You can create a filter that includes specific podcasts and criteria (e.g., starred or unplayed), give it a name like “Favorites,” and save it. This acts like a personalized collection, and you can play all episodes in it at once.

Another option is starring episodes manually, then accessing them through the Starred feed. It’s not exactly a playlist, but it’s a way to corral episodes you want to revisit.

hi!! I’d really love an update for playlists / saved queues.

a prime usecase example is that I want to listen to several audio drama podcasts with many episodes by their in-universe order, which is not a metric available in the metadata of the episodes themselves. I have to manually queue them for these relistens and it is a bit of a pain to do so in the app (searching for the title, adding to bottom of queue). This is frustrating when I use my queue for news during the day and don’t want it to auto play into fiction podcasts while I am working. At night, I always clear my queue so I can put on just a few episodes of a podcast to fall asleep to, and I do not want to use a sleep timer due to the varying lengths of the episodes.

I would love to have a “playlist” that I can set up on my computer in the order i would like that syncs to my phone, not a queue or a filter, for this usecase. I would like to reorder episodes manually in a playlist instead of sorting them by a static attribute in the queue.

This is the podcast i would like to use as an example. You can see the timeline is different than the release order of episodes https://wolf359.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline#google_vignette this is a usecase that a filter simply cannot provide a solution for. The ordering I am requesting is not a filterable attribute nor is it something I want to set up and leave in my main queue.

this is my 6th year of being a yearly paying premium user of your app. The only time I have asked for assistance from your team i was met with an AI email response, which was pretty frustrating. I’d really appreciate it if you addressed this with some transparency and provided an expected timeline for a playlist feature.

    thanks so much!

  • Hi there! Thanks for your feedback about the initial AI assistant reply. While this can help in most cases, I know that the replies may not always answer all of your questions. Please do reply to message and our human support will be more than happy to continue assist.

Please keep an eye out for the next app update, v. 8.0, which includes an update to the Filters feature. In this version you will be able to create a manual playlist, then sort the episodes by Oldest to Newest, or Drag and Drop which will allow you to put the episodes in the in-universe order (timeline).
