Some downloaded episodes won’t play without internet access

    I download many episodes to play when I’m on an airplane (and therefore, offline). Some of them fail to play, and I get the message “Check your internet connection and try again”. Question: If I’ve downloaded the episode, why do I need an internet connection?

    When I get back online, I download the episode again and then switch to airplane mode. The episode plays fine. This suggests that the downloaded file (or some metadata) is getting corrupted somehow.

    iPhone 11 Pocket Casts version 7.67. However, this bug has been occurring for at least a year.

    Does anyone else experience this?

    Downloaded episodes should be available offline, so it sounds like there’s something wrong, indeed.

    We’ve recently pushed an update for Pocket Casts iOS app in version 7.69. Would you update to the latest version and let us know if the issue persists?

    If you’re using Watch or CarPlay (or something similar where you connect a 3rd party app with Pocket Casts), please let us know as they can affect the functionality.
