Sort by Release Date Not Working on Desktop App

On iOS, Pocketcasts allows you to select a sorting option called “episode release date.” This works as it should, putting all the podcasts with un-played episodes first, and moving all podcasts where I’m “caught up” to the end of the list.
Something weird happens when you select the equivalent option on the desktop app. When sort by “release date” is selected, now the podcasts appear in some sort of weird/jumbled order. It seems like it is maybe counting some played/archived episodes ahead of some un-played ones, but in general I can’t actually figured out the pattern.
Is there a way to simply sort podcasts by release date of the un-played episodes, exactly the way it works on iOS?

My apologies for the confusion on this. Taking another look I see that there is a discrepancy in the sort order between desktop/web and the mobile apps. I’ve forwarded this along to our developers as a bug report. I can’t offer an estimated timeframe for a fix, but hopefully our developers will have one soon.
