Streaming to google nest playlist (que) problem

When streaming from my android to google nest I cant use the playlist like I used to.
Somehow, the google home app takes control of the stream that causes the Pocket cast app to stop working. I can see the Pocket Cast logo in the google app, and I can hear it playing on my speaker, but cant use the ‘play next’ button. When the episode ends, it doesn’t play what supposed to be the next one up, but it just ends the stream. Now pocket Cast thinks I have a list full of unfinished episodes.

Please check your phone app’s settings under Profile > Settings icon > General. In particular, is “Keep screen awake” disabled there?
If yes, please try enabling it. Then, let us know if that makes a difference. -
I’ll try that, but does it mean that I can’t turn off my screen ? In the past it wasn’t a problem if my screen turned off.
If I fall asleep, I don’t want my phone screen on all night.

When that option is enabled, your screen will remain on while playback is ongoing. I would give it a try to see if it makes any difference or not.

I’m having this exact same issue, and have been for the past 6 months.
Hardware in use:
Pixel 6 pro – casting to Nest Audio multi-room speaker group created through Google Home app
Things I have already tried to correct this issue:
Clearing app cache and storage.
Uninstalling and reinstalling app.
Ensuring that unrestricted battery usage is enabled for in android settings for pocket casts app.
Ensuring that keep “keep screen on” setting is enabled in Pocket Casts app settings.
I listen to full length podcast episodes on YouTube Music app over my Nest Audio speakers and have no such problems. I’ve been (reluctantly) looking for alternative Podcast apps because this has been an issue for more than 6 months with Pocket Casts, and while testing AntennaPod, I am not having this issue.
