Stuttering audio while casting to Nest Hub with 0,9x speed
-
Hey there!
My audio stutters whenever I;
- Cast to my Google Nest Hub, AND
- Have playback speed at 0.9x
At normal speed everything works fine, but at 0.9x it stutters so much it isn’t audible. At 0.8x there’s still some stuttering but not as noticable and thus the speed I would need to use if 1.0x is to fast.
Have been wondering for a while now if this is something on my end or from within the app. For what it’s worth: it worked fine in the past! 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks so much!

Do you recall when this first started happening?
Also, does it happen with all podcasts or just specific ones? Also, even with downloaded episodes?
Please let us know!

Hi @staff-joey8!
Unfortunately I’ve no exact date. I would say it has been going on for 3 months easily. It indeed happens with all podcasts, even downloaded. That’s why I thought it would be somewhere in either the app, the connection of the Google Nest Hub itself.
Rebooting all of those doesn’t help by the way.
Thanks for your time!

Thanks for letting us know! I’ve reported this issue to our development team; we’ll be in touch if we need more information from you.

We’ve done some testing on our end and we see what you mean about the ‘stuttering’ at different speeds.
We believe this issue is due to the way episodes are played on the Nest Hub. They are played locally from the speaker rather than being sent from the phone, so it relies on the speaker’s playback speed controls, which may affect the sound quality due to the speed of the speaker’s processor.
As such, there is not much we can do on our end to improve the playback, I’m afraid.

Hi there @staff-bluejay,
Thanks for getting back to me and testing it out! Glad you could reproduce the stuttering. I’ll see if I can manage to get the issue under the attention of the Google Nest Hub team, maybe they’ll be able to fix it.
Thanks again for looking into it and doing all you could!

You’re very welcome, @festivalloving6519b227dd
We’ll also try reporting it from our end. If others are facing the same issue, please also report it to Google 🙇
