While I find the current audio quality offered by Pocket Casts to be commendable, I believe there’s an opportunity to take it to the next level and provide audiophile-grade audio quality that can rival even the best offerings in the industry, such as the Overcast Podcast App (only available on iOS).
Audiophiles, like myself, seek the utmost clarity, detail, and depth in their audio experiences. I believe that by incorporating audiophile-quality audio into the Pocket Casts app, you can attract a passionate community of users who prioritize an exceptional auditory journey. Here are a few suggestions on how to achieve this:
1. Lossless Audio Support: Introduce support for lossless audio formats, such as FLAC or ALAC. These formats provide uncompressed audio quality, delivering the authentic sound that audiophiles crave.
2. High Bitrate Options: Offer higher bitrate streaming and downloading options for podcasts. This will ensure that users with premium audio equipment can fully appreciate the nuances of their favorite podcasts.
3. Enhanced Audio Processing: Implement advanced audio processing algorithms that preserve the dynamic range and spatial characteristics of the original recordings. This attention to detail can make a significant difference for audiophiles.

The audio quality in general seems fine to me and comparable to Overcast. However, using the Volume Boost function immediately degrades the audio quality quite significantly.
There’s a night and day difference between Pocket Casts and the Voice Boost function in Overcast.
Pocket Casts Volume Boost sounds harsh with overly elevated tops and a bit to muted lows. In Overcast everything sounds exactly the same, except louder.
