Subject: Suggestion: Introducing Audiobooks to Pocket Casts

    Dear Pocket Casts Team,

I’ve often wondered whether Pocket Casts has ever considered the possibility of integrating audiobooks into its platform.

Audiobooks have become increasingly popular, offering a fantastic way for people to enjoy literature while on the go.

Given Pocket Casts’ reputation for delivering high-quality audio content, I believe adding audiobooks to the app could be a wonderful expansion of its offerings.

It could provide users with a convenient and streamlined way to manage both podcasts and audiobooks, all within a single app.

Of course, I understand that the primary focus of Pocket Casts has always been podcasts, and that any expansion would need to be carefully considered.

Nevertheless, I wanted to share this suggestion with the community and the Pocket Casts team. I believe that this addition could not only enhance the app’s value but also attract a wider audience of audiobook enthusiasts.

Thanks for for another well-thought out and well-explained feature suggestion @teknevra96! We really appreciate the ideas!

It is possible to add your audio files, including audiobooks, to the app from the Files section on the “Profile” tab, which would allow you to listen to your audiobooks from within Pocket Casts (and if you have a Plus subscription, sync them across all your devices).

It sounds like you may be thinking of more integration than that, though. If so, could you share a bit more about what you have in mind?

I was thinking more along the lines of either adding Audiobooks to the Pocket Casts app (think in the style of the AUDIBLE APP) where for a monthly fee (most likely added to the Pocket Casts Premium that exists now, or maybe an add on subscription), people can access as many Audiobooks as they want.

    OR

A completely separate app where you can purchase Audiobooks from either inside the Pocket Casts Audiobook App or from the Pocket Casts Website (think Spotify, Chirp, Google Play Books and Audiobooks, Apple Books, etc.)

Although, hopefully not as expensive as AUDIBLE.

Got it! Thanks for clarifying that, @teknevra96.

Personally, I suspect that this could get complicated really quickly with licensing and distribution considerations. That said, I’ve still opened a feature request for this, in case it’s something we want to look into for the future.
