tap group labels to collapse/expand, add a draggable scrollbar and subgroups
-
On the podcast page, when hundreds of unarchived episodes are grouped under Unplayed, it would take numerous swipes up to reach the Played group. Allowing users to collapse the Unplayed group by tapping its label would eliminate the need for repetitive swiping and enable quick access to the Played episodes with a single tap.
Even so, when searching for a specific episode in the middle of hundreds of played ones, the absence of search clues necessitates multiple swipes to navigate to the desired location. A draggable scrollbar would be immensely helpful in this scenario.
Additionally, users may wish to explore the entire episode list to keep the episodes of interest and archive the others, which can be a daunting task to complete in one go. Breaking down the task over multiple sessions requires remembering the stopping point, which can be inconvenient. It would be beneficial if episodes, when sorted by release time, were organized into sequential groups of 50, as depicted in the illustration, with the count of unarchived episodes in the group indicated next to the group label, which users could collapse or expand by tapping.
The sketches also propose similar groupings.

Hi @derekzhang98,
To view all played episodes of select podcast(s), I recommend creating custom filter with the conditions “Played” and “Pocast” (select whichever you’d like).
Episode Filters
As for sorting and grouping for easier user experience, I’ll pass your suggestions forward to our team as UX/UI improvement feature request!

Hi @staff-bluejay,
Thanks for your suggestion. Maybe my request was not clearly stated.
Sometimes, I need to find a played episode from a podcast, and it is intuitive to go to the podcast page and look for it in the Played group (I recently learned by chance that Listening History could search for the podcast name to filter its episodes, but I cleared my listening history once…) But often, there are hundreds of played episodes and are auto-archived by default (which I prefer to remain), so filters won’t work. Instead,- tapping group labels to collapse/expand or reverse the order, e.g., Played – Unplayed;
- adding a draggable scrollbar; and
- adding subgroups
would facilitate better UX/UI. Glad to know that you have communicated this to your team. Thanks again for your time and help.
Best,
Derek -

Thanks for the additional context @derekzhang98! I’ve added this to the feature request for our team to consider in future updates.
Thank you @kapods22 for your vote! I’ve added this to the feature request too.
