Tapping twice on “Podcasts” tab causes search to pop up (very annoying)

  It looks like new behaviour was added so that tapping twice on the Search tab focuses on search and keyboard. That’s fantastic.

  However, a bug seems to have slipped in that tapping on the Podcasts tab while you’re already on Podcasts also brings the search and keyboard up, which is a very bad experience. Can it be restored to do nothing if you’re already on the Podcasts page? Podcasts has nothing to do with search, and as the “Home” button of the app, it should do nothing when you’re already home. Thanks!

  I can confirm that this was implemented on purpose and isn’t a bug. I have relayed your feedback to our developers though, so that they can look into this further.

  Thanks for your feedback. I have no other questions, I just hope this behaviour can be reversed (or made optional if some people like the Home button sending them to search; I find it frustrating, but for people migrating from other podcasting apps, it might have been normal to them?)

  A second tap on the Podcasts tab should always return to the top-level Podcasts screen, similar to how tapping the Filters or Profile tabs returns to the top-level of their content. Think of them like a “home” button for each tab.

  OTOH, the Discover tab is different as its primary purpose is to search, so it makes sense to open a search on a second tap as a shortcut.

  Doing it on the Podcasts tab makes it harder to return to the main screen after a search. Now, you have to reach all the way to the top and tap Cancel to get back to the Podcasts tiles screen.
