Upgraded Galaxy Watch and now can’t skip forward or backwards in a podcast

  • Unknown's avatar

I had a Galaxy Watch 4 and was able to skip forward (30 seconds) or backwards (10 seconds) using the watch’s default media controller. I just upgraded this week to a Galaxy Watch 7, and now am unable to do this. The buttons on the watch interface now will only skip tracks forward and backwards. Is there any way to fix this? This is one of the main things I use my watch for.

  • Hi there, @crj123082

Thanks for bringing this up with us. In order for us to debug this further, can you please go to the Wearable phone app > About watch > software information, and share the versions you see listed? A screenshot of the page will also be great!

So far, we have not been able to replicate this but will be able to investigate once we have more information.

Hi – any update on this?

    Thanks!

  • @crj123082 You previously mentioned:

The buttons on the watch interface now will only skip tracks forward and backwards.

Can you please check if the buttons only look like skip track icons but still function as skip forward/back? We’ve seen a similar issue before, but with Samsung phones. Let us know what you find!

I’m also having this issue – same situation with regards to my 4 classic functioning like it’s supposed to but my new ultra not working. The buttons do not function at all (forward/rewind). They do not skip tracks nor 30 second skips.

  • @bran3544 @crj123082 – I can confirm that we’ve filed a bug report for it here: https://github.com/Automattic/pocket-casts-android/issues/2708

It seems like it only affects devices with WearOS 5, as we could not replicate the issue on devices using WearOS 4. It’s unclear if it’s a WearOS bug, but our team are going to investigate.

You can keep an eye on the bug report or add any feedback directly to it.
