ver. 7.46.2 Filter not allowing downloads, previously worked
-
Prior to this version change I had created a filter that allowed me to select ‘Download all’ from the hamburger menu in the upper-right corner of the screen. The filter had the following attributes: All podcasts, unplayed, last 3 days, not downloaded. All other options were default. The filter currently displays the appropriate podcasts based on the above criteria, but selecting ‘download all’ no longer works. It did work prior to this version.
Phones: Pixel 4a, android 13 ; Moto G5, android 9 ; Moto E5, android 8 : Moto E4, android 7

Hi, @samfranktom! I just tested your filter settings on my device, and used “Download All” without any issues.
From what you’ve shared, however, it looks like you’re experiencing the issue with multiple phones. Is my understanding correct? If yes, are they all connected to the same network?
Can you test if a regular download works? Specifically, please select an episode and then, see if downloading it without using the filter works. This can help us narrow down the issue.

Answers to your queries:
1.)Yes, the problem occurs across the multiple phones that I’ve indicated, and they are all connected to the same home wifi network. There were no issues, whatsoever, using the 7.45.x versions of the app on any of the phones.
2.) Regular downloads from a particular episode may or may not work and I’ve found no rhyme or reason for its variability.
I’ve started up all 5 phones this morning and this is what happened:
Pixel 4a, android 13: NOT LOGGED IN TO ACCOUNT. Open app to filter page. Filters are listed. Select a filter and manually select download since nothing is auto-downloading. No downloading will occur. Select podcast icon from bottom of screen and the display is blank–no podcast icons showing. Now select filter icon again and that screen is now blank as well–no filters displayed. Close app, wait a few minutes, re-open app to filter page and now filters are displayed. Select podcasts and now podcasts are displayed. Go back to filter page, select a filter, and then ‘download all’. It works and downloads start occurring. SUMMARY: This occurs several times a day. Open the app and sometimes everything works fine, other times its blank. Sometimes just closing, then reopening resolves the issue while at other times an app ‘force close’ followed by ‘cache clear’ is needed. And then sometime I have to restart the phone completely. No issues were found when running the 7.45.x versions of the app even though I was never logged in to the account.
Moto G5, android 9: LOGGED INTO ACCOUNT. Open app to filter page. Blank page, no filters are shown. Select podcast and no podcast icons are shown. Attempt refresh of the app by swiping down from the top. A refresh ‘circle’ is displayed. I let it do its thing and the refresh gets hung for 2 minutes before I decide to close the app. Open the app again to the podcast page and all the icons are displayed. I select the filter page and it displays my filters. I select ‘download all’ and it begins downloading though I had to do this manually and it didn’t start by itself.
Moto E5, android 8: LOGGED INTO ACCOUNT. Open app to podcast page, all podcasts shown. Select filter page, all filters shown. App starts to auto download new podcasts properly w/out requiring manual intervention.
Moto E4, android 7: LOGGED INTO ACCOUNT. Open app to filter page. All filters shown. Select podcast, all podcasts shown. No new podcasts are available to now download so I suspect they auto-downloaded while I was looking at the other phones.
LG Phoenix 4, android 7: LOGGED INTO ACCOUNT. Open app to podcast page. All podcasts are shown. Select filter page, all filters shown. Wait 5 seconds and auto-download begins and runs to completion.
I have had more problems with the Pixel 4a, android 13 than the others, meaning half the time I open the app and its blank or won’t download, or even play a podcast. I don’t know if that’s the OS or the fact that I’m not logged into my account since I don’t know what your software is expecting. Logging into the account on this phone would sync it with the others and I’d lose all the saved podcasts I have on this phone, that I don’t have on the others, so I don’t want to do that at this time.
There seems to be a problem of refreshing the app and having it get new information. This was really evidenced with the Moto G5 hanging during refresh and I’ve experienced that on the Pixel 4a at times as well. So I have to close the app and/or clear the app’s cache and so forth. Or, ultimately, restart the device.
