Volume lowering by itself during the playback
-
Hello, I have version 7.55 (9185) on Android and I often need to play podcasts on max volume, but after some time the volume goes down and I have to up it manually again. It’s happening whether I use headphones or not. I didn’t notice this in the past versions and my phone’s settings didn’t change either.
Any chance this may some sort of bug?
Thank you

This happens to me, too. The volume lowers while I’m driving. It stays down; it’s not temporary. I’ve checked the “shake to put the app to sleep,” and that’s turned off. It happens more if I’m going over a somewhat rough road. I have the app playing over an aux cable. I’m not using any other apps.

@lwoott can you please test if this also happens when playing media from other apps?
That said, based on the information shared, it sounds more like a connection issue or a button being pressed somehow, which causes the volume to decrease.
The logs might also be worth checking after this happens again. Here is how to read those logs: https://support.pocketcasts.com/knowledge-base/understanding-pocket-casts-logs/
Feel free to share a snippet of the logs so it has the part where it occurred, and we can help check it out too.

This happens for me to on the Fiio Jm21 Digital Audio Player using Bluetooth headphones
version 7.89 (9340) is intalled
Android version: 13How to recreate this:
- start listening to podcast at your preferred volume level
- continue to listen to podcast (DO NOT TOUCH THE DEVICE)
- after about 15 minutes the volume starts to lower itself gradually until it is barely heard
To get out of this, wakeup the device, touch anything on the podcast app, and volume returns.
I have set the screen timeout to 120minutes to test this again but ideally this shouldn’t be happening

@plresume, have you checked to make sure you don’t have a sleep timer set for your podcasts? The audio fading out to nothing before pausing is the type of behavior you’d see when a sleep timer goes off.
If that isn’t the case, though, and you’re still experiencing this issue, could you reach out to our support team through the app? This can be done by navigating to Profile > Help & Feedback > scroll down and tap on “Get in touch”.
You may receive an automatic response with suggestions from our documentation, but if those suggestions don’t do the trick, you can reply to that email to get in touch with our support team directly.
