What did I purchase in-app in 2016?
-
Hello,
I’ve been a long time Pocket Casts user and back in 2016 I purchased something for $3.99. My memory is failing me on what exactly I purchased, but when I saw the app pop-up asking me to pay for a subscription I was confused because I thought I had already “bought” lifetime or similar.
Does anyone know what in-app purchases they had back then?

In 2019, we switched from having each app be its own purchase to offering the iOS and Android apps for free. Access to the web and desktop apps was then limited to those with a Pocket Casts Plus subscription.
Since the web app used to be a one-time purchase made from our site and we were moving it to a subscription, we gave a lifetime subscription to those who had previously purchased the web app.
Did you previously purchase the web app? I’m not seeing a web or desktop app purchase under your email.
Please note that purchases from Google Play or the Apple App Store would have been for our Mobile app, not our Web Apps.

The purchase for $3.99 was through Google Play. So you’re saying I bought the mobile app, which you now offer for free?

i also purchased through Google play, could I get lifetime? Now I have to deal with commercials…

@abstracted207 That’s correct! It looks like you purchased the Android app: How do I know if I qualify for lifetime access to Pocket Casts Plus?
@kyungjlee Android app purchases don’t qualify for lifetime Plus, but Plus status doesn’t affect whether you hear ads. Pocket Casts doesn’t insert the ads. The ads are from the podcast creators themselves. If you’re interested, we have more about the topic here: Ads in Episodes.
