Add to Up Next queue Play Next

I’ve been having an issue with automatically adding to the UpNext queue. I have all of my podcasts set to “Play Next” when adding to the queue but the other day I found a bunch of new episodes at the end of the queue instead of the beginning. I double checked the settings on my podcasts and they are all correct. So I moved them all to the front. Just now I checked it and had a new episode at the end. But it doesn’t seem to do it all the time. I’ve had episodes from the same podcast be at the beginning where their supposed to be and also at the end (not the same episode but another new one). Is there another setting I’m missing or is there some type of bug somewhere?

@jabroniw Thanks for the detailed description! For further investigation, can you please help us with the following?
- Which devices are you using with Pocket Casts? For example, are you signed in on any other devices, such as a tablet, a second phone, or a watch?
- The next time you spot a new episode at the end of the queue, could you contact us from the app straight away? Go to Profile > Help & Feedback > Contact Support > Get Support, and mention this forum thread and which episode it was. This way, we can get app logs to help us investigate.

i think I may have found the problem. I looked at the settings on my tablet and they were set to “Play last”. I thought when I changed the settings on my phone it would sync them to the tablet but maybe not? I can only assume my tablet would get the episode update first and put it at the end of Up Next and then my phone would show it there as well.

Good catch, that is exactly it.
Each podcast’s Add to Up Next setting, including its Position (Play next or Play last), is stored on the device rather than in your account, so changing it on your phone does not change it on the tablet. The Up Next queue itself does sync. So whenever the tablet picked up a new episode first, it added it to the bottom, and that queue then synced across to your phone.
To line the two devices up, on the tablet open each of those podcasts, tap the settings cog in the top right, tap Add to Up Next, then tap Position and choose Play next. Once both devices match, new episodes will land at the top whichever device refreshes first.
Auto Download works the same way and is also set per device, so it is worth a glance on the tablet too. The full list of what does and does not sync is in About Pocket Casts Sync.
If an episode still turns up at the bottom after both devices are set to Play next, let us know here and we will dig in further.
