Auto Add to Up Next integration for Smart Playlist

  Currently, Pocket Casts has two powerful but disconnected automation systems:
  • Per-podcast “Auto Add to Up Next” — automatically queues new episodes from specific shows
  • Smart Playlists — dynamically filter episodes by rules (unplayed status, duration, download state, etc.)

  The gap: There is no way to have a Smart Playlist automatically feed into the Up Next queue. You can only manually trigger “Play All” from a playlist, which either discards or saves your existing queue — it’s an all-or-nothing operation.

  Requested feature:
  Add an “Auto Add to Up Next” toggle in Smart Playlist settings.

  Thanks for taking the time to write this up so clearly. This is a great feature idea.

  You’re right that the two systems currently work independently. The per-podcast Auto Add to Up Next is set at the podcast level (via the podcast’s settings page, or managed globally under Profile > Settings > Auto Add to Up Next), while Smart Playlists filter episodes dynamically but don’t have a way to automatically push those episodes into your queue. The only current bridge between them is the manual “Play All” option, which is the all-or-nothing behavior you described.

  There’s no setting today that connects Smart Playlists to Auto Add to Up Next automatically, so this would be a new feature. I’ve noted your request so it can be considered by the team.
