Autoplay stopped working

@altacannonportillo – this is interesting! When it happens again, please have a look at your debug logs to see if you can spot anything odd. To understand those logs, you can refer to: https://support.pocketcasts.com/knowledge-base/understanding-pocket-casts-logs/
If you’re not sure about what it is showing, feel free to paste a snippet of the section in question into this thread so we can advise further.

@altacannonportillo I checked the logs that came in with your message, and I saw errors like this:
E 22/8 19:19:31 Playback state error: 1 Could not load podcast. Please check your internet connection and try again.Do you perhaps have a firewall, VPN, or ad-blocker active on your device that could interrupt your network connection?

no… Please see the history. I’ve used the app for a year. Autoplay broke with recent update. Team tried to fix it in latest update, but clearly it’s not a full fix. I can’t spend any more time on this. I’ve provided more than enough info.

I see you were chatting with us previously in https://forums.pocketcasts.com/forums/topic/autoplay-not-working-when-skip-last/?view=all . The correction for the issue in that thread is in Pocket Casts version 7.71. Checking the logs you sent, I see you’re on version 7.70. We hope to have 7.71 released in the next week or so. Please, do let us know if the issue persists after that.

skip last = 0, so it’s not the same issue.
Please read through the history again and review the logs.
In the mean time I’ve disabled autoplay.

@altacannonportillo thanks for clarifying. I see you’re mentioning Podcast A, B and C. Can you perhaps share some names of the episodes or podcasts, to help us locate the exact instances in the logs?
If you prefer, you can reply to your email with this information.
That said, even if you have AutoPlay enabled, switching between podcasts without completing an episode fully will add the incomplete episode to your Up Next queue, and having anything in your Up Next queue will prevent AutoPlay from working. AutoPlay will only work if your Up Next queue is empty.

I have multiple unfinished episodes and none of them are in the queue. I’ve never seen unfinished episodes get added to the queue in over a year using the app, so I don’t think that is how the app works (unless that’s another bug.)
The podcasts of interest were The Journal, Acquired, and The AI Daily Brief. Those should be the most recent episodes access in the log anyways.

It could also be due to your Auto-Archive settings, if you’ve set it to archive inactive episodes, then that can remove them from the queue.

Thank you! We’re conducting some investigations and will relay an update to the thread when available.
