Can’t log in on Galaxy Watch 6
-
Long time Pocket Casts user. I’ve got a Galaxy Watch 6 which I’ve installed the watch app to, but I can’t get past the login screen. It says if I’m logged in on the phone (S24 Ultra) then it will work, but no such luck. Is there anything else I can do? The app works fine on the phone and is logged in. (My Pocket Casts account is not my Google account, does that make any difference?)
Cheers,Julian.

Hi @julianmelville,
Would you check the following:
- Your Wear OS device is running the latest version of the Pocket Casts app
- The Pocket Casts app versions on your phone and your Wear OS device match
Is this the first time you’re logging in on your Watch? If so, the very first time you log in to the Wear OS app can take from around 45 seconds to even two minutes.
Please give the process some time to complete and let us know how that goes!

Thanks – the watch is running version 7.80W and the phone has 7.80 (9303). The watch is showing as connected to the phone in the Wear app and other connected apps are working OK. I tried restarting the watch but no luck.

@julianmelville Could you perhaps try using a Gmail account for your Pocket Casts account? Similar to the suggestion we made here: https://forums.pocketcasts.com/forums/topic/subscribed-to-plus-but-cannot-log-into-wear-os-app/?view=all#post-4912
From what we have seen, it looks like the WearOS Watches login functionality works better when using a Gmail account.

I’ve got this same problem. I have a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro paired to a Pixel 9. Both are running pocketcasts v7.85. I’m logged into the app on the phone, but can’t get past the login screen on the watch. I’ve tried putting both into airplane mode or turning bluetooth off and back on with the phone app running, tried uninstalling/reinstalling the watch app, and restarted the watch, but no luck.
Unfortunately, I use email login for my Pocketcasts account (it’s a gmail address though). I don’t think there’s a way to convert the account to use google login, and I’d rather not create a new account since I have many years of usage and subscriptions tied to the that account. Anything else I can try, or should I look for an alternate podcast solution for my watch?

Hi there, @testdownthemountain! Thank you for sharing the steps you’ve tested to login to your account on the watch. I’ve reported this to the team so they can investigate further.
If you have an existing gmail address, you can convert it to Sign in with Google by following the steps mentioned in this thread. -

I finally got a chance to try switching my account over to use my Gmail address, and the watch now connects. It took a restart of the watch as it got stuck on the Google login the first time, but all good now.
Thanks for the help, and for such a great product.
