Data usage

@mikerockwell ah come on, you need my address? My personal number? My age? It’s shows you guys nothing rather than data miners

Since we cannot reproduce your issue on our end, and we’ve already gone through basic troubleshooting, the next step is to look at logs and see what went wrong there.
The logs do not contain your number or age. You can also trim the logs to include necessary information for troubleshooting purposes.
You can do that via Profile > Help & feedback > scroll all the way down > Get in touch > Get Support > tap “Attached Logs” > scroll down to “Debug Logs” > long press it and tap “Copy”
You can then upload the logs to something like pastebin.com and share the link as you contact us. -
Hello, I’m having the same issue.
I received an SMS from my provider saying my mobile data was almost used up. When I checked, I noticed several apps had been using data, but I couldn’t figure out which one was causing the problem, so I reset the statistics.
I then paid $20 to add 1GB of mobile data. Later, I went outside for about 20 minutes and listened to part of an episode I had already started earlier and still haven’t finished yet.
When I got home, I received another SMS saying my data was gone.
I checked the statistics again, and the main culprit was Pocket Casts, which had used 1.3GB.
What I don’t understand is why it used mobile data at all, since that episode was already downloaded.
In Profile > Downloads, it shows that it downloaded the episode I listened to today (about 250MB), which makes sense, and nothing else in the past week.
In Settings > Storage & Data Use, it says I have 3 downloaded episodes totaling 663MB.
So how did Pocket Casts end up using 1.3GB of mobile data?
What are the steps to retrieve the log? I guess it changed since the last message on this thread.

@robertocaldas would you be able to send app logs along to us so we can take a look? You can send app logs by reaching out through the app — Profile > Help & Feedback > Contact Support > Get Support. You may receive an automatic response, but if the suggestions aren’t helpful, you can reply to the message to escalate it to our team.
In the meantime, you may want to consider enabling the “Warn Before Using Data” option in Profile > Settings > Storage & Data Use and/or the “Only on Unmetered Wifi” option in Profile > Settings > Auto Download. That will help prevent the app from using mobile data when you aren’t expecting it to.

Pocket Casts just burned through 3 GB of my mobile data in 10 minutes trying (and failing) to stream a podcast that’s only 224 MB.
I found the debug logs. Looks like there’s an infinite data-burning loop where the app tries to play an mp3 file that doesn’t exist (and presumably tries to download it again) about 5 times per second. Awesome.
I’ve emailed you guys the debug logs via my regular email app because the “Get Support” feature seems to be broken at the moment.

@tomkerrigan Thank you for sending those logs along! If you haven’t heard from us yet, you should be hearing from our team soon.
