Galaxy Fit 3 Media Control Problems

    Hello!
Looking for some help with the problem described below.
Let me know if any more information is needed.
    Thanks!

Phone Model: Motorola Razr Ultra 2025
Band Model: Galaxy Fit 3 (Not WearOS)
Problem: The media controller on the Fit 3 recognizes when Pocket Casts is running, and can pause playing media. However, once media is paused, the band is no longer able to resume the media. The only exception to this is when the phone is both unlocked and Pocket Casts is also open. Then the band controls work.
Attempted Solutions: Resyncing, Restarting (Phone and Band). Clearing Pocket Casts’ cache, Making Pocket Casts’ battery usage ‘Unrestricted’, Turned off ‘Adaptive Battery’, Ensuring Pocket Casts’ notification permissions, Checked for updates

  • Hi @willem2088,

Thanks for the detailed report and for working through so many troubleshooting steps before reaching out – that is genuinely helpful.

This looks like a known issue where Android drops or fails to restore the media session for Pocket Casts after a pause, which prevents external controls like your Galaxy Fit 3 from being able to resume playback. Our team is already investigating related behaviour, so I want to be upfront that this may not be something you can fully work around on your end right now.

That said, a couple of things are worth trying:

    • Confirm you are on the latest version. Could you let us know which version of Pocket Casts you are currently running? You can find this under Profile > Settings > About. The current Android release is 8.10, and we want to make sure you have the latest fixes.
    • Check for a conflicting media app. Other apps (music players, Google Assistant, Samsung’s media manager) can claim audio focus and prevent Pocket Casts from responding to resume commands. Try closing other media apps and testing again.
    • Enable the notification player. Go to Settings > Notifications and make sure the Pocket Casts playback notification is set to persistent. This can help Android keep the media session alive after a pause.

If none of those help, please share your app version and we will get this logged with the details of your specific device and band combination for the team investigating this bug.
